The wiring diagrams I have say there's a DRL relay in one of the fuse/relay blocks. I'd experiment by removing that relay.

I'm thinking the best answer is to carry a spare bulb or two. That is what I'll do. Thanks everyone.

And as an aside, this search engine, even for 'just this forum' sucks. You never really get a focused search, just all kinds of threads. Yech !!!

You may not have found anything searching on this subject because it is akin to asking if it’s okay to drive with an inside dual wheel flat.
If you are worried about “consuming their useful life”, you are in an RV, and there is more of that coming.
Disconnecting safety features has always been risky.

I'd bet most states have a law for it.

DRL to LED
Yes, there is a fuse that will disconnect the relay that turns the DRL on when the ignition is turned on. I disconnected mine. Then, I acquired a set of LED's that sticks to the bottom of my headlights, somewhere between 18-20" each that turn on when the ignition is turned on. When, I need headlights, I turn the switch on just like standard operation. When I connected the LED's, I found a hot wire under the hood that is active when I turn on the ignition, so the LED's are always on when driving. I did it for 2 reasons. One was LED's are the new style of headlights, and two because they last longer and are brighter than my older standard DRL. Works for me and I got a few compliments on the look of the headlights

OMG. You are going to trade safety for a few cents worth of bulb life? I'm sorry but i just do not get this.

DRL are cheap insurance to make you visible to other drivers. An easy way to disable them is to set your parking brake. Coincidently that also keeps other drivers safe as you are not on the road!

I was thinking like you at first, but OP says he will carry a spare bulb or two See post #22.
Too bad resolutions like this can't somehow be retroactively updated to 1st post for closure.

When the sun is setting or rising behind you the DRL makes you easier to see!

I always turn my headlights on. There are so many distracted drivers on the roads today that I do "everything" possible to make myself as visible as possible!!!

Carrying a spare will pretty much guarantee that you will never need it!
