Help: 2007 F53 Daytime Running Lights Module (DRL)

My 2008 Winnie Sightseer 30B rides on a 2007 F53 chassis. I recently imported this vehicle into Canada and to complete the import process I need daytime running lights working.

From Ford this chassis did not come equipped with the DRL module. Can someone with this chassis model year provide me with the module information or provide an alternative approach. If providing alternative it would be beneficial to include a description of your approach for someone new to the MH world... this is our first MH.

Thanks

At least you got some ideas over on iRV2. If none of them pan out to be any better than your original (expensive) plan, I'd just let the Ford Truck service people do the work.

It might be better to just bite the bullet and let the Ford shop do the install, pay the price, and know that you should have a functional DRL system, with some sort of warranty against parts/labor issues down the road. Rather than try to rig up some sort of bypass that could also fail the inspection.
Consider it a "learning experience" on the topic of importing vehicles from the US.
A little bit of homework before you buy, goes a long way. If the deal you got on it was a good one, think of it as a little extra added to the purchase price.
If need be, contact the RIV and request direction on extending your time limit on completing the CMVSS work to make your vehicle comply to Canadian standards. They'll probably be able to advise you on that.
Get it done, move on.
Then enjoy your new to you recreational vehicle.

First off, welcome to winnieowners!

Second, you should add a signature to your user profile. It usually includes the year, make and model of your coach, but can include other information. A signature is appended to each post. To create/edit a signature, click on the "User CP" link in the orange bar at the top, then click on "Edit Signature."

Ford publication Q-137R1 concerns the modifications needed to activate DRL for American F-53 chassis sold into Canada.

There you go. Plug in a resistor and a relay and you're all set.

Shame on your Ford truck center for no knowing that!

It's probably that resistor and relay that they want $900 for.
Found them in a barn somewhere in South America, and the recovery and shipping charges are astronomical.
Plus labour.

@l1v3fr33ord1

Thank you so much for that information. Where in the heck did you get that information. I've scoured the internet looking for information related to DRL and that particular chassis and came up pretty emtpy.

Cheers

You hang around these fora long enough you acquire a boatload of reference info.

Here is a Ford site that has a bunch of useful info, more or less depending on model and year:

I did this a few years ago

We brought up a 2008 29r. I looked into purchasing the ford parts but found the crappy tire dlr was cheaper and easier to put in. I bolted it to a frame member by the running light closest to the front bumper. If I remember correctly I did all the connections right there.

Strange.

Our 2006 Winnebago Sightseer 29R rides on a mid-2005 (still 06 MY) 18K chassis, and it certainly has DRLs.

Sold originally in CA I believe.

The Ford publication listed above explains that Ford thrifted a relay and a resistor from the US 2007 F53 chassis so DRL would not function like on the 2006 and prior chassis.

I confess to not reading the above linked publication.

Dang, that's just too cheap of them to do that.
