Head of bed lower than foot 2007 Horizon TD
Hello,
We have an itasca horizon and the head of bed is lower than the foot, with slide in out or in and level.
This is not the only motorhome we have had with this issue.
We currently have plastic wedges to adjust but the are too high
It is very frustrating, so any tips to permanently fix, would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Hi Maine Racing,
This is just a guess, but could the mattress be tapered? Could you flip it end-for-end?
On my Minnie Winnie, the main Queen Berth in the slide-out has two mattress sections, and one is thicker than the other to accommodate one panel which slides under the other.
What year is your Horizon?
Which floor plan do you have?
Other Horizon Owners might be of some help with your question.
Welcome to the forum.

Hi,
You know the only thing we haven’t measured is the mattress. I will definitely check this.
It is not the original mattress that came with motorhome. There are sleep. Umber controllers and it is a regular mattress.
We have a 2007, horizon TD, sorry for not posting that, it asked me when I registered so thought it would show up.

Good Morning Maineracing,
You can add your motorhome information into your autosignature by clicking:

Yes,
You need to either put all that pertinent information in the thread/post or, in your signature so that others who may have the same equipment can help. However, in this case, which year of Horizon should not make any difference. The pedistals that hold the bedding are all made primarily the same. That is, they all are the same height, side to side and end to end. Now, there's a potential for a collapse of some sort of the supporting platform. You'd have to get down and remove the mattress or at least tilt it up some so you can see the supporting platform. Does your platform raise so you have storage under the bed? Ours does. Well, I should say 1/2 of that platform raise and the other half is bolted down. But, you need to get down and see what's causing your problem.

Hi again Maineracing,
OK, so this is a long shot in estimating the problem, but my bed baseboard did fail. If that is your situation too, perhaps my repair method would be of some use?

When you test the level condition with a digital level, it reads out in degrees or percentage. Compare the RV floor to the top of the bed platform, then top of the mattress.
Come back and post those figures so we have something definitive to work with to solve the problem.

My bed goes out with the slide-out. I cut some wood, maybe 6 feet long and 1 1/2 inches thick at the head end and tapered down to 0. I secured it with screws and have enjoyed it since.
