1800bh Micro behind a Gen4 Explorer - thoughts?
Looking at getting my first TT. My current vehicle is a 2008 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8 4x4 with factory tow. Last of the full framed Explorers. (Funny because this Explorer use to be towed behind a 40 ft Newmar, now i want it to do the towing)
Looking at a 1800bh and 2100bh.
The Micros caught by eye because they are 7ft wide and Tandem axle.
ran some numbers last night and looks like on paper my truck is not maxed out with an 2100bh........ One of these days im going to get my truck on a CAT scale to get the exact curb weight.
Specs:
tow rating with weight distribution is- 7130 lbs
hitch weight rating - 740 lbs
GVWR - 6275 lbs
GCWR - 12,000 lbs
Im estimating the current Curb weight of 4,800 lbs (will weigh it)
weight of passengers AND cargo i estimate -750 lbs or less
Looking at the 2100bh with an est dry weight of 3860
GVWR - 5000lbs (Looks like Wennabego just changed the axles on the New Micros dropping the GVWR from 7000 to 5000)
Hitch weight rated at 430 (plus propane, batteries) estimating- 570 lbs
So with my calculations my GVW would be 6090 lbs
and GCVW would be 10,520 lbs....
towing New England - East coast.
I know being an SUV is does have a shorter wheelbase but all this falls within spec of the vehicle tow rating..
anything im an forgetting about? Anyone else tow a Micro with a similar rated vehicle?
