WGO production slowing

Not sure if this has appeared here already, but saw this article yesterday about Winnebago factory production:

I read about their record earnings yesterday - and all the numbers were way up except the value of the backlog of orders. The backlog was down, but not drastically. Today, they had the earnings call and you can read a transcript here:

Yes, I had seen that comming as there was such a rush into RV from folks who had never been interested and it was semi-obvious that it would be a temporary thing, if we could ever get the pandemic back to somewhat normal levels.
It's one of the hazards of doing business in uncertain conditions.

I'm mostly retired (several times!) but had gotten into quite a lot of work which I totally stopped doing when I did not want to travel and it is certainly a good thing to not want to fly anywhere now! Just going out to eat is more trouble than it is worth until things level out in a few years.
We just came back from a trip to Keller (DFW area) and it was a total disaster, so we are just glad to stay home!

But at the same time all the RV folks were gearing up to over produce and meet the sudden demand, folks were beginning to find they were not really RV folks and now they are wishing they had not moved so soon!

I don't expect life to be "normal" any time soon!

I just ordered a Minnie Winnie 31k today. We want more space.

ETA is April. I’m skeptical they’ll hit that date even though it’s 10 months out. No chassis !

We live near Austin which has a large group of computer folks (Dell, Apple, Samsung, etc. ) and getting chips is about to kill some of them, so it is sure to be putting the hurt on cars and RV that have to have the chips to do the modern things.
