Add carrier for e-bikes to Micro Minnie 2108DS

Looking to adding some type of bike
carrier to my micro minnie 2108DS and the hitch claims 150 lbs. Guessing that's not enough, what is the best method?

This gets asked and answered a bunch of times. So, I'm just going to provide a link to the current thread running on this topic right now:

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ch-365493.html

PS. There's nothing wrong with starting a new thread. But since this one is currently being discussed I figured that this would be quicker.

Most ebike hitch racks do NOT work with RV's. You have to read carefully to find which ones are RV rated and there are very few. This is important since the RV rated racks are much more stout than the other ones. The RV rated racks are such that they can handle the weight in the rear and the movement of the rack as you drive down the road. Most salespeople do not know this so watch out lest the rack fall apart with bikes attached!

We run the 1-UP Super Duty rack on our Minnie 2529RG. No issues after several trips. Our hitch is rated at 250 (frame mounted) and we run it right at the full 250. PM me if you want details or pictures.

You routinely see bike racks hanging off the back of a travel trailer and with the right rack and the right installation it can be OK - it's never great and it can cause all manner of safety and drivability issues.

It's always better to carry your bikes in the back bed of the truck you're using to pull the trailer.

And, understand, the heavier the bikes the much more problematic towing on the back of the Travel Trailer is - for the bikes, for the trailer and especially for your safety on the road.

If you search e-Trailer for Bike Racks they do a good job of specifying which racks are approved for e-bikes and for use on the back of a travel trailer. You'll find that very few meet those specific requirements.

Yes, it meets all the criteria for ebikes and RV or Travel Trailer usage. Many of the less expensive Swagman racks meet these requirements as well.

Even with these ratings you need to insure that the extra weight hanging off of the far back of the trailer does not lighten the tongue weight on the hitch ball too much. If it does and you don't correct for this it can cause extreme trailer sway and unsafe handling problems.
