2023 2108DS Micro Minnie 15" wheel hub diameter

Does anyone know the hub diameter on a 2023 2108DS Micro Minnie 15" wheel? I'm considering purchasing 13" wheels for my trailer so I can get it into my storage shed.

Thank you!
Jon

Hi Jon,
If you only need to drop 1", why not just let some air out of the tires?

Hi again Jon,
Is there any possibility you could raise the entire shed with house jacks, and build a concrete pony wall underneath it? You would need a new garage door at the least.
A smaller diameter rim gives you only half of that reduction as a drop in radius.
Another way would be to remove your four tires & rims, and place the hubs on four of these:
You might get a 5" drop that way.

... or, are you thinking of just using a 13" rim with no tire at all?

Changing from 15" rims to 13" rims will lower the trailer 1", which is half the diameter of the rim difference. That will not come close to lowering the trailer 5" to get it in the building. Also, 13" rims and tires will not have the load capacity of 15".For instance, a 185/60R13 tire has a load rating of 992#, not even close to what your trailer requires.
Are your trailer axles below the leaf springs or above? If the axles are below the springs, the axles can be flipped to over the springs, but you would need to carefully measure and calculate how much that would lower the trailer, you your time and efforts might be wasted.

Then the departure angle must be considered. If the trailer is lowered too much it will drag on every dip or city gutter filling station approach.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but let me give provide my thoughts. My Micro Minnie has Goodyear ST235/75R15 tires, which have an overall diameter, when inflated, of 28.9". The 13" wheel/tire combo I was looking at (ST175/80D13) has a diameter of 24". I understand that the load rating is only 1360 per tire (my trailer has a tandem axle) but I was planning on changing the tires on the apron of my building, backing the trailer in the shed, and then either replacing the wheel/tires with the originals or jacking/blocking the trailer for the winter.

Raising the shed is not cost effective option, and I'm afraid that using the dollies as Eagle5 suggested will not work, as I have a little "lip" on the transition from the apron to the shed floor.

Hi Jon,
I agree with your calculations for the rim & tire diameters, but you said you needed to drop 5" of height off of the trailer, right? So, the reduction in height of your trailer will be the reduction in the radius of your rim & tire:
(28.9" - 24") ÷ 2 = 2.45"
The cost of four rims & tires might very well be $600
The cost of the dollies is about $140
If you could modify the transition lip of your shed for less than $460 ($600 - $140) then you would be money ahead.
Thanks, Eagle5

Thanks for the follow-up Eagle5! I appreciate the comments. I was hoping to deflate the ST175/80D13 tires enough to gain the remaining 2-1/2" inches. I believe the side wall height of that tire/rim combo is approximately 5-1/2" when fully inflated. I understand that is not "healthy" for the tires, but like a stated above, I would only be using these tires/wheels to back the trailer about 10'.

Hi Jon,
So we have come full-circle back to your original question, and that is what 13" rim will fit on your trailer. But, now that we know more, why not just buy another set of four 15" rims which you know will fit? Then, just roll your trailer into your shed on bare rims.
  • 28.9" ÷ 2 = 14.5" (the existing tire & rim radius)
  • 15" ÷ 2 = 7.5" (a 15" rim radius)
  • 14.5" - 7.5" = 7" (the drop)
Thanks, Eagle5
