Back up camera for micro minnie
We have a 2019 micro minnie 2108DS with no pre wiring for a back up camera. Looking for information on best way to self install a system - have heard that some have used wiring from the middle marker light on the upper back of the trailer. Any specific directions and camera system suggestions would be appreciated

Behind that small rectangular cover just beneath the clearance lights is the wiring for the lights. Just remove the cover and tap into the 12v wires. After you’ve gotten your camera to “mate” with your remote display, it’s best to drill through the cover and route the camera wire through there For a good waterproof seal. If your 2108 doesn’t have that cover, you’ll have to drill through the rear cap about 2” under the center clearance light and fish out the wire bundle, the stuff it back in when your done tapping in. Of course you’ll have to put on a flexible gasket seal, and caulk around it before screwing in the camera mount.
There are any number of 12v cameras on Amazon, most of which are remote, meaning your clearance lights must be on in order for them to work. We like our Yakry system. It only cost $140 on Amazon, and they’ll send you an extra camera if you ask for it. The monitor is easy to see, and can display both camera views at the same time. Installation too 40 minutes. You’ll need a tall stepladder.

You might have to drill through the rear cap, buy maybe not. But rather than do exploratory drilling, maybe just be patient and wait for somebody who has done it to chime in.
The wire harness will be behind the clearance lights. If you can remove the center light, I’m thinking that would be the easiest way to get at the wires.

Skipurple since you didn't indicate that you already had a camera system I highly recommend this one. It is the one I use on a 2250DS and it works great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This extended camera mount gives more flexible vertical mount range. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This beanbag monitor mount can be used on the dash or the suction cup mount can be used on the windshield. I have used it both ways. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now lets talk about mounting the camera. A few inches below the center running light use a 3/4" hole saw and open a hole. Attach the mount over the hole with suitable sheet metal screws. Seal the screws with silicone rubber. Fish the cable going to the center running light out of the hole. Cut the cable and remove just enough outer insulation to allow the wire to be skinned for re-connection. Attach the camera cable wires red to red and black to black to the running light wires with two small wire nuts. Stuff the wires and wire nuts back into the hole. Mount the camera. Connect the monitor to a cigar lighter socket and power up. Turn on the head lights or parking lights to see if you have a picture. If you are satisfied that it is working seal the 3/4" hole with silicone rubber.
I bought this memory card to record the trip. It plugs into the monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Class...s%2C195&sr=8-4

I went directly into the middle running light. Fit super easy and the bracket fit into the existing plastic light holder.

That looks good and will work well but it violates the Federal Lighting Requirements for trailers. I really doubt that you would ever be stopped.

I must of missed read my state law requirements as I checked before mounting. Good thing I can replace the light quickly with no harm done.

Not state law but Federal. I think I would just chance it because I don't know of any Federal County Mounties patrolling the highways. I probably should not have posted that.

As stated earlier 2" - 5" down from Center Marker Light. Fish the wire out connect push back in. The grommet on the camera wire works, seal around it.

Type S | Portable License Plate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B58VMHPS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
That’s one. This brand has another that uses your cell phone as a monitor. I’ve had two for over a year, flawless, simple.
