Which drain is this? 2019 22M Minnie Win

Hi -we’re at a campground and just had some water come out of this drain. Right above driver side outside dually tire. I’m going to try and pull-up the plumbing diagram from Winnebago but cell service is very weak.

I did get the 3D diagram to load. It looks like the overfill from the fresh water tank. We are on a slope so maybe that’s it??

Yes indeed; that is the overflow drain for the fresh water storage tank.
Happy Camping, and please try to keep things on an even keel.

Thanks Eagle5 :-). I was too lazy to get the blocks out this time. I did find out like everyone else you have to fill the fresh water tank pretty full to get the water pump to prime. That’s why it’s spilling over.

Thanks for the info Eagle and Kelm. We took ours out last week for a little shake down trip since our 22M had been in the shop for a few weeks. We have a bigger trip planned in 2 weeks to the Finger Lakes area of NY. Our water pump wouldn’t work and the tech found a loose fitting near the toilet. It actually works better than when we first got it last year. Went to a nice campground in Ronks, Lancaster County, PA. Enjoyed the fresh picked strawberries and asparagus the 2 little Amish kids brought around with their wagon. A lot better price too.

Hummm, I've never found that to be true. The water pump is self-priming and it should be able to prime and run as long as there is water in the fresh tank. When my tank is very low... like bottom 1" of water in the tank the pump runs but does struggle. But any more water in the tank and everything works normally.

The problem is that on the 22M there is a small hump in the line from the tank to the pump and there needs to be enough water in the tank to initially overcome it. I’ve read online of a number of 22M owners having this issue. The hump is to get up and over a structural blockage. Poor design but there’s not a lot of room to work with in a 22 foot motorhome.

So, when your water level drops below that "hump" your pump no longer works? That's like having a drastically smaller fresh water tank.

I don’t think that happens but I haven’t had it long enough to find out. I think once the pump is primed it is fine after that. The problem is just getting the initial prime going.

Anybody actually seen this blockage?

I tend to believe the drawings are pretty often more reliable than what folks on the internet tell me.

So when I look at the drawing, it doesn't look like a structure but the shield that they put the pump on and , in either case, thinking that the pump can't build enough vacuum to pull up and over is just not right if all parts are right.

This is what the Winnebago drawings show. There appears to be open space behind the metal sheild the pump is mounted on and the pump intake tubing just goes straight up and over that but if the pump is working right, it makes no difference just like when we siphon using a tube or straw.

Folks who don't understand how a siphon and self priming pumps work will often make up excuses for other things as well!

You know folks that don’t own this particular camper are just being rude know it alls. The blockage is the metal plate it had to go up and over instead of going straight to the pump like most RVs are configured. I told you others have reported the same issue and filling it up helps overcomes the issue. You don’t know a thing about me and I know plenty about prime and siphon it’s not rocket science. I was just telling you about mine and others experiences with this very particular model and yet you have to be a know it all and try to put other people down.
