Valance removal -1998 Winnebago Minnie 31WM

My 1998 Winnebago Minnie has fabric covered valances overall the windows with blinds seemingly attached to the valance. I am unable to see how these are fastened to the sidewalls. Before I destroy something can anyone tell me how they are fastened and the secret to removal?

Thanks,
Barry

Remove the blinds and you'll see the screws holding the "lambrequins" - yep, that's the real name for the valance - to the Wall or more likely to the cabinet above.

There should be releases for the blinds on each end. At least, there should be.

Getting the blinds down can be a trick if not aware of one item that some have.

If you look/feel along the edge of the blind at the top rail, you may find a metal "tab" sticking out just a small amount. Often feel it before see it?

I tried to draw it looking from the end of the blind. That metal tab is a form of "release" that if you push up on the tab while wiggling/pulling down on the blind, it can be unsnapped from a groove running the length of the blind top rail.

Makes more sense after you can get a look at it but the idea is that when placing it, the metal snap and tab are screwed to the top, the back of the rail has a groove which is fit into the hook on the metal and then the front of the blind is rotated up to force the metal to spring open just enough to let the rail go fully up and snap into the metal.

If you have this type and find the metal tab, I will admit to going a bit crazy finding a way to force a screwdriver up hard enough to open the tab to dropit out! Once we got the blinds out, we found metal "L" brackets screwed to the top and wall holding the valance.

Hey, thanks for the info. I had looked at it last night and the lighting wasn't very good. After reading your replies I went and looked under with a flashlight. It's pretty clear and easy now. The blinds do have clips, but they are located in 2-3 places in the top of the valance and the blinds pop right out. Then the valance can be unscrewed and removed.

Thanks greatly for the help!

Sometimes the valance screws are hidden by fabric so finding them all can be a challenge. A magnet helps as does a thin putty knife to slide between the valance and overhead cabinet or wall.

I did find that in addition to the clips holding the blinds to the valance, a screw had been put through each one into the valance that held it in place in addition to the clip.

I removed all three from the bedroom. I'll clean the blinds and we'll recover the valance or maybe just make new ones entirely.

Picture will be in my restoration thread:

Thanks for the help!
