2023 Vista 29NPF Black valve leaks?

Hello All
Proud owner of a brand spankin new 29npf. As a long time Winnie owner (just sold our 2003 class C Spirit 32) I fully expect there would be quirks to the new coach. Just finished a 3 week trip through Utah (I'm in CA) and the coach performed well except for a few issues. One of the issues is that the black tank valve seems to leak a little. I've had it into the dealership that I purchased it from and they tell me that with the 29NPF the pipe from the black tank valve to the actual outlet in the wet bay is nearly 7feet long and I'm just seeing residual that is getting left behind in the long drain pipe. Well - even when I run a black tank wash/clean out via the provided connecter and the drainage runs clear, after being on the road to the next site, I find that about two gallons of black water ends up at the end cap. Luckily I did install a clear 45 bend at the cap (since upgraded with a valve at the end as well) so I can see the residual.

Anyone else have this problem?
thanks

Hi CD Eldorado,
My black tank valve is at the end of a long 7' cable too, and it really helps to lubricate both ends of the cable with Tri-flow. Spray it on the closed black-tank valve, and when it is open, spray the now-exposed components of that valve again. Also, while it is open, spray the exposed cable end at the pull-handle. Be careful to not breath the fumes.
I believe the valve itself is just fine, but if the cable hangs-up, it can keep the slide-valve from fully closing.
Why is all of this reminding me of that scene in RV?
Thanks, Eagle5

I have that problem with my Adventurer

I resolved it by installing Valterra Flush King™ 45 Degree Reverse Flush Valve Attachment.

It isn't a perfect solution, to be sure, but I got tired of getting a little "surprise" every time I opened my black water valve cap.

Had same issue with 22M - put twist on slide closer at end to make sure it was closed when I opened the values to dump

Our 2016 27Q also has a dump vale that doesn't quite seal when closed. it's usually just an once or two, maybe three when I remove the cap.

It's been a while since I've been in an RV store, but do they sell replacement rubber gaskets for the dump valves?

2023 Vista 29NPF Black valve leaks?

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a new Vista 29NPF as well and have the same issue. The dealer did a pressure test on the black valve and said it's working fine. I had to replace the cap with the Valterra twist on valve as others have done on this thread. It works, however, I have to be very careful to not let it pop off when removing the cap! I purchased one that glues on to replace it. Will be installing it soon.

Greetings mpette,
I do lubricate my cables fairly often; at least once-per-month.
For some reason, I have a bad mental image of the Valterra valve popping-off at an inopportune time.
You have a very cool motorhome there.
Welcome to the forum.

Not an uncommon issue unfortunately. As others noted, a gate valve can take care of it for you.
