Can't imagine that it would. One biggie would be how to keep it sealed and another would be all the wires that run from the body to the rear cap. Anything that goes on can come off but it is not a simple thing that most would try!

From my understanding, it is a lengthy process.

NO! The RVP basement heat pump/air conditioner is behind the grill at right rear corner. You can see the condenser coil behind the grill.
To keep the grill raised out of the way when working on the unit a rope or cord must be used to tie it up, I tied the rope to the roof ladder.

What is your objective?? These units weigh 200#, so not a one man job.

This document written by "Duner" on this website describes each step of working on the unit, with pictures.

Ask any questions related to working on an RVP basement unit you wish, but the model # is required. The model # is on a sticker on the left end of the unit, you'll need a mirror to read it as there isn't much room between the unit and rear cap.
One man here removed his rear cap for ease of access, but that is a lengthy and heavy process, and not required.

My motorhome is very different - it's a 2017, an Adventurer and has a Ford Gas v-10 upfront and A/C unit's on the roof. So, why am I responding?

A number of years ago I clipped a roof support pole in my storage yard at the very rear side of my coach. This popped the bottom of the rear cap away from the rest of the body. In fact, it was only attached at the roof and I could lift the bottom of the cap away from the body as if it were hinged at the top.

There were just a few (2?) tabs between the rear of the motorhome and the cap glued on with epoxy. The trim on the sides of the body also played a role in holding the cap in position. The cap was tucked into an aluminum channel screwed into the side wall of the body. On top of that was a vinyl trim piece to hide the screws.

On my motorhome it was not much holding things together - however, the cap and sides of the trim holding things in place were painted with the full-body paint job.

It might be easy to get all of this to release to give you access to that HVAC ducting - but expensive to put back together and repaint.

I suspect the rear cap must be removed to access all the ductwork to the top of the MH.

Jim HiTek describes, with pictures, how he removed his rear cap to access the ductwork.
