WANTED: A Winnebago Spirit/Minnie Winnie 22R 2016 - 2020

Looking for a WB 22R (Ford-Gas) from pre-COVID production era (no older than 2016, though preferably from the last of the pre-COVID units.)

At 72yo I want to extend my solo RV life. To that end I recently sold my '17 WB 26A (no more slides, or toad!) I made a 'learning mistake' by buying a used Class B. Not for me in many ways. I turned into a sardine in a sardine can during a recent 2.5 month trip as soon as I bought it! :-) I'm selling (got a great deal so won't lose $) and want a 'baby' of what I had. Only a WB22R. It's important to me to get one in great shape where the owner is very honest (often hard to tell) about any issues or known potential issues. I will consider nationwide. I will pay cash. I want (who doesn't haha) low miles; great shape; regularly maintained (including having kept it pretty clean inside and out, like I did my 26A). I'd LOVE one with an upgrade of an auto level system and solar, though can put those in myself. Health issues make all the solo block leveling too much for me. I'd like a win-win on price, with neither buyer or seller ending up feeling we got the short end. If you know of any appropriate 22R's for sale (Minnie Winnie or Spirit) please send to me a Private Message. Thanks!!!

Hi dnta,
It sounds like a perfect rig for you, and I hope you can find one in great shape. Please keep in mind that the 6-speed automatic did not go into production until 2016, and I really like that transmission over the old 2015 & earlier 5-speed.
Thanks, Eagle5

... one more thing ... (I feel like Columbo here)
The one-piece over-cab bunk exterior cap was an option until 2020, and that really eliminated the leaks which could develop in that area. It would be nice if you do get the over-berth cap.
Thanks, Eagle5

Thumbs up Thanks again Eagle5

It's true I'd prefer 2016 thru 2019. I suspect even 2020's had hit the COVID era? I should look that up :-) I've heard a lot of cautions about the fast tracking during COVID creating even more quality control issues than 'normal'. Although I have to say, my 2017 WB 26A had great quality control from the get go. Thanks again for your feedback. Helpful!

Be aware that most motorhomes are built on a previous year’s chassis. So, the majority of 2016 gas motorhomes have the 5-speed transmission from a 2015 chassis.

Manufacturers buy chassis in bulk and store them until the model line is open. In these cases chassis are delivered in one model year and completed in the next model year. In some instances a motorhome can have a chassis from 2-years ago. The model year of the completed motorhome is what is shown on the RV’s title. Some of the very popular B vans are built fast enough that the chassis may be the same as the completed van’s model year.

To tell a 5-speed from a 6-speed you can research the VIN for later than March, 2016 or look at the shift pattern on the instrument panel. A 5-speed has RND321 and a 6-speed has RND421.

The 6-speed is vastly preferred over the 5-speed.

PS. What’s a WB in your wanted request?

Thanks creativepart. Sorry, WB = Winnebago.
I'm aware of the older chassis thing and know to look at the 10th letter on the VIN for the chassis year :-) I'll be careful to find out on any advertised 2016 if it's the 5 or 6 speed (thanks to both you and Eagle5.)
