How much more are used Minnie Winnies now compared to pre-covid?

I am wanting to buy a newer used Minnie Winnie. However, I only started looking for one in the last month. I know the auto industry has super inflated prices right now, and I am reading news stories that indicate the same is with RVs. My question is - how much more are used Minnie Winnies now compared to two years ago?

Hi Qwerty11,
I believe a two-year old motorhome would be worth today what somebody paid for it two years ago. In other words, they have retained their full purchase value.
Perhaps a related question is are those RV values temporarily inflated, or are the increased purchase prices permanent? My best guess is that we will not see retracement on their pricing, but we may see a lull in further increases for a while. I have seen speculation on this Forum that once the "newbies" buy their motorhome and then quickly become bored with them, you will see a glut of two-year-old RVs on the market. I do not believe this to be the case, as the RVs which have been purchased are serving an ever-widening role in how people vacation. With so many rules and "inspections" associated with air travel, the freedom and liberty provided through ownership of your own motorhome will not quickly be abandoned.
The bottom line is get what you want at the best deal you can find, and consider it an investment in a tangible commodity that cannot be hyperinflated away.
Thanks, Eagle5

If there are any RV rental companies in your area? If so, consider checking to see if they "retire" units from their rental fleet and sell them.

Three years ago we bought a 2016 Minnie Winnie from an RV rental company here in Anchorage and perhaps we were lucky, but it was extremely well maintained and has given us no significant problems during two Alaska Highway trips to the Lower-48 and back.

This particular company buys new motorhomes designed for rental applications and after three seasons they are retired, spruced up, and sold for around 60% of their original cost.

We bought a 27Q with about 38,000 miles on it for just over $48,000. It was in near perfect condition and the only issues we found were loose galley drawer slides which we easily fixed.

Your post prompted me to run a NADA price on our 2016 MW 25B. We purchased ours in December 2019 with 7,800 miles on it. At that time the NADA price was 45K. I ran it today with 12,500 miles on it and 19 months older and the NADA price is now 50K.

price

I'm watching this with interest. I plan to sell my 2018 26A Minnie and Toad in another month or so. Only 35K. Things must have changed, I get emails from Camper World and other places wanting to Buy My MH... I can't figure out how they even know I have one.

I checked the NADA for my 2020 29VE. Apparently people are asking for 30k more than I bought it for new. Now is not the best time to buy unless there are no other options.

People can ask whatever they want. From watching RVtrader, asking prices are up about 15-20% for used and new prices are up about 10-15% from a year ago.

Great time to sell . . . Not such a good time to buy.
