Bathroom Shelves Added 2021 View 24D

We just added two, small shelves to the bathroom in our 2021 View 24D. The space between the medicine cabinet and the closet wall seemed a perfect place for small items like water glass, toothbrush, medicine bottles, cosmetics, etc. Nothing heavy, of course, and only while parked.
This is our third mod to the bathroom. The first was a folding extension to the counter, the second, a slow-close toilet seat.
The lower shelf is attached by two flat brackets underneath and screwed to the bottom of the medicine cabinet. The upper shelf is fixed with two, self-tapping screws from inside the medicine cabinet.

Looks very nice, almost like it belongs there from the beginning.

Good Job

be happy -- Thanks. I should have mentioned the shelves are salvaged from discarded shelving kits, the kind that sit on brackets hooked into vertical wall anchor strips. We're just lucky the finishes match.

Nice addition, looks great.

Our 2018 24D has shelves there from the factory, not sure when they discontinued them.

Nice set up. Wondering if you have any pictures/advice for bathroom counter extender you mentioned. Thx

Patty –

Happy you like the shelf. I don’t have any plans or pix of stages, but I didn’t find it that difficult. The measurements are dictated by the space available and the configuration of the bathroom vanity and toilet.

The shelf I made from a Rubbermaid prefab shelf measuring 11-3/4” x 23-3/4” (Home Depot) from which I cut a square piece, 11-34” x 11-3/4”. Using a shelf already finished on four sides let me install the sawed edge facing the backwall of the bathroom, leaving only finished edges visible. Mounted flush with the front edge and top of the existing counter, the shelf clears the back wall of the bathroom; that measurement may be different for you, but I doubt if by much.

I installed a 5” x 3/4" spacer to the side of the vanity beneath the extended edge of the existing counter for mounting the folding brackets (Amazon.com: Jolitac Folding Shelf Brackets 10”, Max.Load 260 lb, Heavy Duty Brackets Stainless Steel Wall Mounted Shelf Collapsible Bracket, Folding Bench,Work Table Arm Rack (10 Inch, 2PCS) : Tools & Home Improvement). I found this necessary to align the shelf top flush with the top of the existing counter.

Here are the pix I have of the installation plus one of the shelf’s label. Look closely at the installation and you’ll see the spacer and understand why it’s needed.

I hope this helps.
