TOYO M-154 Motorhome Tire Accolades
Just had six TOYO M-154 245/75R 22.5 on my 2007 Winnebago Adventurer 38J and experienced no handling issues on the drive back to the RV Park we're in. In fact, they ride better than the 5+ year old Michelins that were on the motorhome. All six were aired to 100 pounds by the tire shop and I'll adjust as needed per the four corner weight. There is a slight "new tire" smell only discernible when you're alongside the tires. The total cost was less than $3000 and included a front end alignment

That “slight” smell is well known. Most say it smells like dog poop. Sorry to be so crude, but I have to agree with that description. I’ve read some posts where people say it goes away in a few months. But I’ve had my Toyos for over a year and after a drive the smell is as evident as ever.

Funny. I was standing in our bedroom last night and thought I smelled a full gray or black tank which I shouldn't because they weren't full. Then I realized it was the tires. So we can describe it as them as well.

FWIW, new tires always ride smoother than old hardened tires. Some tire mfgrs. say it takes a 500 mile "break-in" period before they perform as they should.

I have those same Toyo tires, they were on my 03 Journey when I purchased it several years ago and I love them. I have always had Michelins on my previous MHs but when I replace these next year, I plan on staying with Toyo. I rarely have to add air to them and they ride great and have held up much better than the Michelins. I now however, am concerned about the smell mentioned in these posts. My wife has a chemical sensitivity and any kind of chemical smell will make her sick so I probably should investigate that.

This might help. Links to complaints of this on IRV2:

Some of these folks thought it was bad enough to replace their tires. But, I don't think it's that bad. We don't smell this in the coach and only when walking near the tires outside, especially after a long drive.
My wife hasn't noticed it and when I mentioned it to her she said she didn't smell it. If she had I'm sure I would have taken more action when I first had them installed. When it comes to the RV I try to eliminate anything that puts my wife off. The more she enjoys it, the more we go on trips. ( Another reason we gave up the sailboat)

Yeah, the Toyos smell when new but the rankest smell I got from tires were Yokohama tires. Gagged me almost. Very strong sewage smell. Like they used sewer water during processing. "Well, at least they are 'fresh' tires", I thought. Ha! But, went away within a few hundred miles.

My wife in very sensitive to chemical smells and has not been put off by these tires. She says there's a faint cigarette smell, as if somebody is smoking, when she is outside by the tires, but this is only sometimes. Nothing outrageous. Another comment she made is that, from her vantage point in the passenger seat, she feels the Toyo's track better going down the road and certainly ride better. Some of that could be due to the fact the Micheline's we're 5+ years old.
