Radio Upgrade - Sunstar 27PE

The first upgrade I undertook after purchasing my Sunstar 27PE was to replace the factory radio and speakers. The less said about the Jensen speakers the better, while the radio was small, difficult to see, didn't have a volume knob, and didn't support Apple CarPlay. They all had to go.

Replacing the speakers with Kicker 5 1/4" round ones was an easy swap. The radio was a little more involved. I chose a Jensen CAR910X with a 9.1" adjustable screen. The problem was the Jensen was single DIN and the factory (Pioneer) double DIN. This necessitated 3D printing some brackets and a cover plate.

The result was everything I had hoped for and more. I know get great sound, CarPlay, and a screen I can see.

Cheers,
Wayne

Jensen CAR910X is interesting. Single DIN unit with attached adjustable display. My 2004 Adventurer 35U has a 1.5 DIN opening. I replaced the original radio with a single DIN Kenwood. It's ok but hard to navigate the small buttons.

Reading up on the Jensen CAR910X. It appears to support an XM radio tuner add-in. I have that for my Kenwood.

Might consider the Jensen CAR910X down the road. I see few other vendors have such radios but not many have a XM radio option.

I certainly like it. However, there is one caveat: there is no way to select the camera manually from the screen. I'm working on how this can be done using a simple relay and a switch mounted in the centre console.

Very nice! Does the radio display just pivot up and down or can you also adjust the viewing angle left and right. I know it isn't issue with your setup because it is already angled towards the driver seat.

Up/down, left/right, in/out, and tilt/pivot. So, yes, the viewing angle can be changed
