So I went to cool down the RV before our trip and the generator was running. I then turned the AC on, both kicked in. I then went inside the house for a bit. Came out and the generator was off. I didnt put too much thought into it as the RV was under a 1/4 tank and figured it did a auto shutdown.
I then filled up but it still won't start. I cranks over but seems like it isn't getting fuel to fire. I tried priming it by holding the stop switch down for 30sec but still nothing.
Generator has 300hrs on it and a fresh oil change. What should my next steps be?
I'll bet 30 seconds of priming isn't enough given it sucked all of the diesel from the lines when it got below 1/4 full. Try for at least 5 minutes of priming first and then maybe several ten seconds cranking, with a few minutes of waiting in between, and see what that does.
Well I got it fired back up. NOTE TO SELF! Never run the generator below 1/4 fuel. I don't know if this helped but I removed the return line from the generator and attached a hose and cycled the pump to verify pump volume. I don't know if that helped purge the air, but we are back in business!! Thank God!
