Tried the search feature, but no satisfaction there, so here goes.
Currently on our way to the 5 national parks in Utah. The heat around the motor cover is unbearable to the left foot on the drivers side.
I have previously installed sound deadening to the underside of the motor cover itself to quiet engine noises.
Just wondering if any other Brave owners, 27 rq, 1995 w/454, have maybe the same issue, or have mitigated the problem somehow, and with what product(s)?
Thanks Clifftall, I searched under "motor cover" not "dog house," how those little words will throw you!
After reading through the posts, it appears the best overall approach is to remove the carpet and apply the insulation material. When I get back home, I will make it happen.
Thanks for the link!
I discovered the dog house was not securely latched down from the factory..there is (on my Vista) a cam lock operated by an 8mm allen wrench and I had to do a little revision and adjustment to make it work.. It was actually preventing the top from seating flush to the floor! plus I don't hear the motor as much...and no more cold or heat coming from the engine.
You many times need to keep the insulation back a few inches from the front of the Doghouse to prevent the insulation from interfering with the rubber seal along with the locating clips and lifting the front of the cover off the floor which allows engine heat to escape toward your feet. You may need to start by cutting back the Doghouse insulation a few inches from the front edge.

My old Tioga MH had a similar "hot foot" situation. I was able to solve it by cutting a slot in the AC duct that ran just above the gas pedal. Just moving the air with the fan/vent made a big difference.
