Brought It Home

Well, we brought it home and I have to say it drives very well or rather I can drive it pretty good. First I pulled forward from between two cars in a lot full of cars, backed it unto the road and pulled forward a few feet stopping to assess the buzzer going off. Thank goodness I did, it was the parking brake.
My “jack down” warning light was constantly on and buzzed intermittently as I drove along. The jacks were not down, as I did a walk around before taking off. All my compartment doors were shut but I realized after getting home that they were not locked…, my bad.
I knew the batteries needed replaced before I bought it and a jump got me started and back to home. Little over $300 dollars later the new batteries from Rural King are waiting my putting them in for later today.
I’m sure my slide outs need a little lube as they look a bit dry. Generator started right up then shortly afterward went off. Noted also that the water tank indicator lights worked well when I first fired the generator up but when the generator went off so did the lights without even a sound when I pushed the generator start button again? I have been reading and it seems the batteries are on the list first with troubleshooting for generator not starting as it requires a minimum voltage. So, praying that when I get the batteries changed out today this will resolve, if not I’ll be doing some more reading.
Noted some of the rubber trim pulling out from around the curve of the counter top as if it has shrunk and pulled away. Seen a suggestion of using a hair dryer to heat it and push it back? I’ve got a heat gun that might work better and quicker…, any comments would be appreciated. There was another suggestion to cut it, push in place then fill any voids with a silicone substance, hoping the heat gun will work and will try that first.
It was winterized last time the owner shut it down.., he had it done so I don’t know if it was a
“Blow out” or “ RV antifreeze” fill? Going to have to read up on this next if I’m blessed with the battery change and generator issue resolution.
Drove it the short distance home with tires looking decent by eye but I’ll ensure their inflation to proper specifications before heading out on a longer trip. Pressures say 110 Lbs, my question is where do you find a compressor that will put out these kind of pressures…, a truck stop maybe?
While we are talking about “truck stops”, I know they have truck washes but know nothing about them.., any comments would be appreciated.
I ordered and had dumped…., rather hastily, 15 tons of 2 inch white rock as a new drive in a rather damp part of our yard. The Maple tree roots that I’d always despaired of became a blessing as I thought the tandem that hauled the rock was going to sink…., the roots saved it from that but as I was watching I signaled for him to dump and go quickly which made it a lot uneven. Yesterday though we got a lawn service with a bobcat to spread it out very nicely and now it looks very good. I figured the 6-8 inches that the tandem sank as it was dumping will be a great base for where the wheels of the Winnabego will track, being filled extra with that rock kinda like a footer? Planning on giving it a year of use before hauling in a great load of road pack to top it with.
Wife made the comment yesterday that we just might sell the house and do this full time, going South in the winter. She said this as she sat in the center of our “road home” with all the slides extended😏.
