imo you want one that will record over itself after X-hours, have a wide-angle view , GPS enabled and removable media. there are lots of dash cams that fill that bill but i also wouldn't go cheap. i wanted a quality unit. lots of them out there, too. my buddy has a KDLinks X1. he loves it, i bought one and love it, too. other than during the winter it's been hanging on our MH's windshield for 3+ years.

Well, I bought two of these. One for our RV, and one for a car.

Would I do it again? NO. they’re fickle. I’d go a different direction.
That said, I haven’t tried any others. Perhaps they’re better, or worse...

We've got a Garmin Dashcam 45.

We've got an older RV that has a TV up front between the seats. I was able to run a new 12v switched circuit up there from the fuse panel so that when we start the RV the camera becomes active. This way we set and forget but still get the benefits of having the dashcam on.
We drove the first few days with the interior sound on but we quickly realized/ remembered that I like to talk to those around me and maybe not always in the tone that you want to have remembered if there is an issue that you need to go back to the video to capture so that got shut off. So if you're anything like me you might want to forego that option.

I just took an old Android phone I had laying around, added a 128GB micro sd card to it, downloaded a free dash cam app from the Android Play store and bought a holder from Amazon. Total cost was about $20 for the holder (I already had the micro sd card) and that works just fine.

The dash cam app gives me the choice of how detailed the video should be and whether or not I want to overwrite the old images. I don't. I just keep it all and download it to the computer when we return from a trip.

We use an Aukey DR1 with the GPS accessory. Looks out in 1080 HD for 170 degree field of view. I put a 64GB memory card in it and it records hours of 10 minute video files before overwriting.

Have 3 of the Garmin Mini Cam’s, car, truck and coach. Small, discrete and don't want or need another screen to watch. Live and recorded footage is viewable thru an app on your smartphone.
