Show Me Your Fancy Thermostat - For Coleman 2-Ton Basement AC With Heat Pump
I would like to replace my old 2004 Itasca "Horizon" Coleman-PHP thermostat with a LDC display type. Preferably for cheap.
For example: I don't know if I would use the WiFi option, but I suppose it would be nice to return to my coach on a hot day and find it was cool inside. Can you do that if you have a router in your coach and WiFi in your campground and a cell phone app?
What has been your experience and what brand do you recommend?
Here's what I know technically: I need 12 wires (9+3). That's about it.
I also have the wire diagrams (see below), but I ran across notes about the basement thermostat upgrade, but this was circa 2010 information and may not be applicable. These old posts talked about needing "jumpers" and other funky stuff that sort of sounds like the OEM diagrams don't tell you all you need to know when upgrading to a new digital thermostat designed for a home.
And note your wiring will be different depending on your basement AC model. Mine has 2 compressors and is a Heat Bump type. It also has to control the GAS HEATER in the front cabin.
* There is a separate thermostat for the smaller back heater, which is very basic, but does the job... if you leave the bedroom door open and the toilet door open. This is a funky design if you ask me. Sort of looks like the designer did not have a better place to vent the heat other than the bathroom toilet area. I wish they plumbed that resister into the bedroom. So maybe one day I will do that. TBD (If you did this, please post.)
If you haven't already done so, you might want to post the same inquiry on Winnieowners' sister site IRV2.com. That way you wouldn't be limiting yourself to Winnebago owners.
I'm interested in what you find out.
