Residential refrigerator- adventurer 35a
I have posted this fridge install question on the class a section, but I wanted to ask the Winnebago Adventurer 35A (mine is a 2005) owners if they have installed a quiet residential fridge in their MH.
Mine has the Norcold 1200 4 door that has died. The space it sits on has a drawer, converter, central vac and the entire coach ground buss duct in it below the fridge. It is impossible for me to mod that. I need a fridge that is 63"H or less and 26"D max. Hopefully we can find a 10 cu ft min capacity.
I have done ALL the counter depth fridge searches on Google and ALL the rv forums.
I would appreciate your sharing your experiences with this fridge modification.

Refrigerator
Lowes has a Haier refrigerator that is 10.3 cu. ft., I think there are others that would fit. Have your removed the old fridge, I replaced mine with a 16 cu. ft. Whirlpool. Mine is in a slide, so I had to measure and check before I bought a unit. When I removed the unit, I could get a good measurement. There are 12 foot units out there. Good Luck

The Norcold 1200 is coming out today. It looks like the Whrilpool/Kenmore 10.7 cu ft could be a good choice and it's the MAX two door I can fit in my hallway. I was hoping one of the forum members had installed one of these in an Adventurer 35A like mine to see if they had enough fridge door swing.
Thanks for your input

I purchased a Kenmore 7262 top freezer in March from Sears for $554. It is 14.8 cubic foot and fit in the space with about a 6 inch gap that I covered with oak. That was the good part the bad is that refrigerator is loud. You might want to have one plugged in before you buy so you get a feel for the sound. I replaced that with a Samsung and even though I had to modify the cabinet it was worth it. Just my opinion but once the Norcold is out maybe you could lift the floor just to see if you can modify the items under the floor allowing you a better selection of refrigerators to chose from.

what's the model number of your new fridge? We also have a 2004 Vectra.

Model # W6RXNGFWS
This Whirlpool® top-freezer refrigerator features smooth, contour doors that will add a sleek, contemporary look to your kitchen. Flexible storage options include humidity-controlled crispers, a snack pan, adjustable gallon door bins, and easy-to-clean glass shelves. An optional, automatic ice maker (ECKMF94) is sold separately and can be added for convenience.
Clear, humidity-controlled crispers keep produce fresh and organized
The clear snack compartment offers a convenient place to store lunchmeat and cheese
Full-width refrigerator door storage provides space for gallon-sized items and beverages

We really enjoy it, ordered the ice maker online. Very quiet, doors stay shut. I have more pictures if you need them. Really like no handles sticking out.

Thanks Billy! when our 1201 dies (again) we are upgrading to residential. Good Sam contract paid for a new cooling unit but I really want the upgrade. We have a lot of solar so no problem keeping up with battery charge. What kind of amp draw have you seen, min to max?

Anyone replaced their Norcold with residential unit? Which window did you take out? We have Bounder 2008 38.

Lajuene, I have not seen the amp draw, at the highest, but just sitting at home, all I see is 2-3 amps.
Surfingmouse, I did not have to remove a window, I removed the front seat and door, I took the old one out and new one in through the front door. I had to remove the doors from both refrigerators.

It should fit out the door if you remove the passenger seat and fridge door. According to write ups I've seen on irv2.

I have a different model RV but my Norcold and the Samsung fit throught the passenger side window but I did have to move the sofa and the valance. I thought that easier than trying the front passenger door and trying to wiggle it around and under the TV. If you have a mid door coach the door might be easiest. And I did remove the doors on both refrigerators to make them narrower and easier to fit through the window.

roof vent
My Norcold is out and the new Kenmore is on the way.
You guys that have already installed your residential fridges, did you block off the roof chimney vent? I know that the side vent cover must be sealed, but how about the roof vent? Thanks

I had a piece of exterior plywood left over from some project and cut it to fit the roof vent opening and then put the cover back on.

we have a 2009 sun cruiser 35p. we installed the paykel fisher residential fridge. it has the french doors and water in the door. with the fridge doors off and freezer drawer out, it went through the door of the motorhome. the footprint of the former norcold (four door) fit perfectly for the new fridge. yes, sealed the top exterior fridge vent. with the bottom vent, installed a furnace filter to the it (as a lot of dust/dirt flow in - but not anymore :-)
cheers,
pdq
