Spare tire under Minnie 2529RG trailer?

We are considering putting our spare tire underneath on our 2529RG. Any suggestions?

Here's a link to my post showing my underneath mounting solution using a BAL Retract-A-Spare Tire Mount.

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ml#post3920514

To mount the tire a high as possible, besides drilling the holes needed for the mounting bolts, my mounting solution required drilling a hole through the frame for the drive nut. I used an 1 1/8" carbide tipped hole saw for this.

I'm thinking ab out getting one of these, though I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I hear they deform the spare tire a little.

Would this require some plates on the frame to drop the top of the spare below the underbelly?

From what I understand, no. The tire fits up against the underbelly. So, it is best to locate it as close to the axel as possible.

Under the tongue?

Here was my solution. Not sure how much clearance you have but it works for me.

Though clearance could be an issue where I go, I am trying to stay as weight neutral as possible. As it is, fully loaded, I am pushing 800lbs of tongue weight and moving the tire from the back to the front would, I'm guessing, another 100lbs to the tongue.
