Remove 2022 Minnie 2529RG front A/C?

Looking to remove the front ac which we never use. Will install a Maxx Air vent. Unless I'm missing something, this should be a fairly simple swap. Difficult to find an rv repair shop that isn't booked out several months.

Wait, you want to remove the A/C entirely or move it to the bedroom?

Removing the A/C is super easy. Outside of the fact that it weighs 80 lbs and is difficult to lower without help and or a fork lift. You could remove it in an hour or less.

Having an RV without ANY A/C unit???? Do you plan to keep your RV for the rest of your life? Because it will be unsalable without any A/C.

If you plan to move it to the bedroom then you'll have serious issues with thermostat wiring, etc.

The 2529 has 2 ac's..in a 26 foot TT. I would just be removing the bedroom unit.

Well, that makes some difference, doesn't it?

I'd just not use it if you don't want it. But obviously, it's a personal choice.

Might be a bit of a problem in that the wiring will be on the 120 volt a/c bus for the air con unit. The fan replacement will need to be installed on 12 dc bus. It should be possible to use the existing wiring but it will need to be reconnected to the dc side of the panel. The ac hot and neutral can be used for the 12 volt connections and a fuse with the right rating will need to be installed on the new connection. I certainly would not use the AC ground wire for the install instead of the neutral. It should be fine to leave the ground wire or put it to the frame of the new fan as that should also be the negative side of the DC the same as the frame of the trailer. Hopefully there will be enough slack to switch the wires from the 120 volt ac side to the 12 volt dc side.

Running a new set of wires might not be possible except in an external conduit and that would look ugly to say the least.

In the best case scenario the space for the air con unit may have already been set up for use with a maxi fan so the wiring might already be in place for the switch out or there will deliberately be enough extra wire at the panel to switch it over to either side of the inverter.
I knew one person who put a fan in place of an air con on a big foot trailer. She made the mistake of putting it in backwards and wound up having the lid go flying. So installing it so it closes down wind is always the best option.

We had a little Scamp with a fan-tastic fan installed backwards for some reason or other. I think it was the previous owner who fudged the install. I always had to make sure it was all the way down before going down the road, never damaged it but we might have popped the lid if we were silly and drove down the road with the vent lid up.

I think Gigman is talking about the AC in the BR at the "front" of the trailer.

Have you done this already?

ETA: Old post. I’d imagine you did by now.

Haven't removed it yet, we have been traveling...will see after October.

Should not be that difficult, there are 2 lights (un switched) right above the head board of the bed, less than 2 feet away.

Really prefer to have fresh air vent above the bed. Could make someone a really good deal on the ac...probably less than an hour run time.

We removed our front a/c. Replaced with maxx air.
Easy peasy.
Pulled the truck up to side of trailer with bed topper to remove. Made easy work of removal.
Wired up max air. There might be 12 v wire there buried in insulation.
Other than that I ran wire wire from there to 12v side to operate fan. Then I found 12 v wire after the fact.

We still have the a/c. Storing it in building in back yard. Keeping as a back up I guess.
The ac we kept on TT I added a slow start, and can run ac on small generator.
We’re in Wesley chapel

Your TT is a little smaller than ours, by under a foot.
We have done fine with only one A/c. We camped in jetty park in may of last year. Just used a small fan to move air around to front during night.
We were also in Pheonix, az. For couple days that was the first time we used the a/c. That was march of 22 I think. Did just fine.

Gigman, I am betting the fan wires are up there already. My 2022 2529RG only had the fan up front (which I replaced with a MaxAir

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...rg-366061.html

In my case, there was also the wiring for the AC, pre-installed with the panel end just coiled up behind the power converter panel. You will need to "de-energize" you are the AC panel.

I attached the 120v AC & 12v wiring diagram I thought might be helpful to you (if you have a 50 amp service, let me know and I will attach the 50 amp diagram).
