MaxFan Upgrade 2022 Minnie 2529RG

Well, I decided to take a break from my Solar/LiFePO4 upgrade while waiting for a couple minor parts to arrive and upgrade the fan in the bedroom of my TT. I chose to upgrade to the MaxxFan Deluxe- Ventilation System with Remote, Model 00-07500K

It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be, though it appears they sealed the prior fan flange with double-sided eternal bond. Funny they didn't actually use the holes in the flange and chose to just screw through the flange randomly.

I removed most of the old Dicor and Eternal bond and chose to use Butyl Tape under the MaxAir fan flange. I screwed it down with the provided screws using the factory holes in the flange. LOL

Placed the fan on the flange, wired it up and installed the interior trim ring. It works great and is a huge improvement of the little "computer" fan.

I am not sure if any of you remember my roof had some "bumps" in the membrane. While I had the fan off, I was able to look under the membrane to see what the bumps were, as there was one close to the fan opening. Though I could really see it all that good, I could feel it, and it appears they used staples to attach the shedding and some didn't bury themselves all the way into the plywood.

I tried to take a picture of it, but you actually can see the staple, just the raided wood around it.

Nice job Bob.
Why did you decide to install it in the bedroom versus the bathroom?

Mainly because we camp in the mountains, where the evenings are cooler. We wanted it to pull the cool air in, kind of like a nice cool breeze blowing in on us, as we don't have AC in 90% of the places we camp. If I were to put one in the bathroom, it would be a lesser model. No need for the reverse air flow, remote, and multiple speed, etc. IMO.

I may upgrade the bathroom one someday (in case you haven't noticed, I like to tinker) but for now, I moved the MaxAir vent cover I had on the bedroom fan to the bathroom fan.

Plus, while I was up there, it gave me a chance to scope out where to mount my second panel. It looks like I will be moving the factory installed on considering they place it in the middle of the largest open spot preventing another one from being mount near it.

I think I will move it forward and mount the second one right inline with it. I am considering mounting them on T-Tracks, or what ever the rails people on here have talked about. There was a long discussion awhile back on the subject where a member had pictures of what they did and the "off-set" blocks they built so water/dirt could flow under the rails but I have been able to find it yet. I need to go back and read all the posts I replied to, LOL!

Thanks Bob,
We’ve been thinking of getting a MaxxAir, but kinda was thinking to put it in bathroom so it pulls air in through the windows. I have no idea which way is better for cooling. But thinking about it, it’s probably better over the bed because air can blow directly on you while sleeping. The windows are not close enough to the head of the bed to give relief while sleeping, which forces us to use 2x 12v usb fans. I think your way is probably better. I think we both belong to tinkerers anonymous.

I’m truly happy with my 3x 100 CIGS panels. More expensive than hard panels, but they are putting out way more juice than monocrystalline, especially in morning and evening, and partial shade. Biggest bonus is no holes in roof, no tracks, and simple install.

Didn't you already have a panel on your TT? If I hadn't already bought my add-on panel, I might consider them.

My model Micro-Minnie did not come with solar already installed. I didn’t install the 100w panel I bought because BougeRV offered me a free CIGS panel to test/review just moments before I was going to install hard panels. Liked the BougeRV CIGS panel so much, I bought two more of them. Keeping my soft portable panel though to plug into my sidewall port, or to charge my powerstation. I still have a HQST hard panel that I use around the house.

I bought a MaxFan as well, waiting on better weather to install it. I have a 2022 MM Flx, and it has 2 of the little computer fans. My issue is that the fans are about 2 feet apart, one in the bathroom and one just outside. I'm thinking I should change out the one outside the bathroom, in the kitchen area. Any cooking I do causes a ton of condensation in the camper, and I cook a lot more often than I shower.

Hunter, after your experience with the fan, do you have any suggestions on my install?

Tell me about the weather. We went from the low 60' to high eighties overnight for a couple days and now back to the low sixties with rain. I am glad I decided to do it in the cooler mornings>

No real suggestion other than following the instructions and taking your time removing the Dicor and prying up the fan. I actually pocked a couple holes in the roof membrane under the fan frame and used the eternal bond Winnie used to seal it down to slice and patch it. Then I used Dicor Butyl Seal Tape on the underside of the MaxFan and screwed it down. Finished with a tube of Dicor self-settling sealant. Be sure the fan it centered when you drop it in place!!!

Oh, one other thing. There are several YouTube videos regarding the install. I watched a few and then read the instructions. It made the install go pretty smoothly.

It's not as nice as the MaxxFan, but I just installed a Fantastic Fan in the bed area of my 2100BH. The existing vent was just a simple skylight – no fan. There was a 12V wire inthe ceiling with constant power right beside it, so I simply grabbed power from there.

Are you using this as an intake & exhaust fan? I feel like I should just save the money and buy the exhaust only fan. I love the rain cover too.

Both. We plan on using it in the intake mode to bring cooler air in when we sleep. I also read it helps the stove's exhaust fan to push air out when cooking. If I were to put one in the bathroom, it would be exhaust only.

FantasticFan 2250 Replacing OEM fan

The first thing we noticed last year on our initial trip was how underwhelming the OEM fans were. Our previous trailer was a NuCamp T@B that had a FantasticFan and it was, fantastic. Yes, the Truma AC in Vent mode is very capable and quiet, but being able to freshen the air in the trailer quickly using only 12V is handy!
I new I would eventually replace the OEM with a FantasticFan.
Well today I did!
I was dreading the mess and potential risk of damage to the "Rubber" roof and both have real potential, but it is a doable upgrade. I appreciated seeing this thread last year and giving me the encouragement to do the upgrade. Installed it in the "main" cabin rather than the bathroom. Quite straightforward install.

This My RV Works video was very helpful.

We chose the FantasticFan 2250 because of our prior experience and I was able to find one at a very reasonable price through Amazon.
$166 used/Like New (SupplyKick)

thanks, again,
-Steve
