Micro Minnie 2106ds Safety Handle

Folks, when we acquired this very little used 2106ds, the first thing I noticed was the Entrance Safety Handle being designed to help enter/exit and can be swung over the door to protect against accidental opening when underway.
I know these items are installed on many rigs and are very useful for their intended purpose. 3
However, I suppose I am not the "trusting" sort of fellow and immediately I could envision "other folks" sliding that handle over the one entrance door on these trailers. I have seen other websites where one individual, thinking the trailer unoccupied, locks the handle over the door, then departs the area leaving the inside person, now trapped...perhaps cannot communicate or worse!
Now safety practices for motor homes, trailers etc with these in place would encourage all owners to familiarize themselves with any Emergency Exit windows, push-out panels etc. [Before any emergency!].
I have read where hoodlums or simple pranksters may go through an RV Park and silently swing those handles over the door to cause mayhem [or worse!].
So, in the 2018 2106ds there are two options: push out the emergency egress window on the left forward side of the trailer or open the small window above the left sink, lift up on the white plastic tab on the right side. This pops the screen out, then reach around with your right arm and lift up and rotate the safety handle away frlm the door. Viola, whence a person was trapped, will now be free!

I never thought of that issue. It is nice to have a window nearby. I can't tell from the photos, but you might also be able to crack the door open and slide a spatula or something out there to lift the handle before pushing it out with the door.

I tried the spatula [or more accurately..an aluminum sheet-metal piece]. On this trailer the door is pretty tight!
I would imagine most scenarios would be to use the emergency exit window. Depending where your rig is sitting, it might get damaged etc. falling to the tarmac.
Ya just have to watch for hoodlums huh!

Thanks! I never knew that it would rotate forward. I just assumed it only rotated to the rear of the trailer.

And I have seen where folks put a small metal stop-bar so the handle cant be in a locked position over the door. This is sorta difficult on [my] Micro-minnie since the handle has two pins on upper and lower hinges...making that option very difficult to circumvent. So we go with the flow eh?
