FBS 1808 overall length

I will soon be the proud owner of a FBS 1808 travel trailer. Our first trip will require a ferry ride. I have seen various lengths posted for this trailer. I need the true length from the hitch ball to the bumper (or whatever sticks out farthest). Can someone help me?

DND,
The spec for exterior length on the Winnebago not real accurate. Spec on my 2108ds is 22’7”. I just went out and measured my box length at 21’11” plus the spare tire protrudes 16” from the back wall, bringing total length to 23’3”. Add to that the tongue length of 36” and my total length is 26’3”. So if spec on your 1808fbs is 20’0”, you probably should expect it will measure out close to 23’8” from coupler to back of spare tire.

Thanks so much for the quick and detailed reply Jim. I appreciate you for going out of your way to provide accurate information. Your assumptions on applicability to an 1808 seem reasonable.

My advertised length is 21’11”. The overall layout drawing from Winnebago shows that as the distance from the center of the ball coupler to the back of the rear bumper. I have measured it and confirmed it as well. The spare hangs 12” beyond the bumper. So if I was boarding a ferry with my trailer, I’d probably plan on 23’5” as a minimum. (21’11”+ 12” + 2” for front of coupler + 4” margin)

Thanks for the reply backtrack15. You and Marine359 used different processes, but came up with very similar numbers. I searched the Winnebago website high and low but didn't find an overall layout drawing. Can you tell me where you found yours?

Contact Winnebago towables directly. If you provide your VIN, they will provide drawings upon request.

I needed to measure anyway. We’re planning trip to the Outer Banks next month. The ferry requires exact measure. Glad you mentioned it.

Hi. I received my 1808FBS last week. Awesome travel trailer. I'll take the measurements tomorrow and report back.

Hi again,

Here are the measurements. I took them by myself so consider a +/- 1% or so...

Overall lengths (took various since I'm unaware what you have):

Tip of hitch to end of bumper-attached spare: 21'-1"

Tip of hitch to rear ladder: 20'-5"

Tip of hitch to rear bumper: 20'-4"

If your ferries operate like ours in WA, they will want the overall length from whatever sticks out farthest in the front to the same in back. We don't have to pay extra if it's UNDER 22' so pay close attention to the wording. Have a blast!
