Cell Phone Booster for Micro Minnie

Hi gang,
Started this new thread to get ideas from folks who have installed a cell phone booster in their MM.

We are not planning to install a rooftop solar panel, so I was wondering if we could mount a cell antennae on the ladder and run the coax through the existing hole now used by the solar connector. Then the coax could enter the pass through and come out through the small panel in the front wall. Then the booster could be hardwired to a dc fuse block which will be connected to my battery in the pass through. Then it would be easy enough to run cable for inside antenna through the bulkhead and into the living space.

Would like to hear from anybody who has installed a cell booster on a MM, and where they entered the coax into the trailer.

If you have a blank outlet cover above your TV with a sticker that says "Pre-wired for WiFi", that is probably the easiest place to run a cable to the roof. Under the cover is a piece of coax that runs to the TV antenna on the roof almost directly above. The TV antenna base comes off with 4 screws, and the other side of the coax cable is coiled inside. On the base of the TV antenna is a "knockout" to run your cell booster antenna cable through. If you don't want to search out the various adapters to use the old cable, you can just use it to pull through your new cable.

Running through the solar connector would likely involve removing the MC4 connection box and replacing it with a cable gland, resealing with Dicor, routing cables inside, etc. And some day, you might want to put panels on your roof.

The thing about your plan that is problematic is the distance from the ladder to the booster may be a problem. Cell booster antennas come with the wiring attached. It's a fixed length. The cable isn't removable and if you need to extend it even a few feet you'll lose a large amount of signal strength with an adapter and extra cable.

If you can run from the ladder to the location you're looking at up front with the amount of cabling that comes with your antenna then it should not be a problem. If the distance is too far you need to find another layout.

We have a Weboost Drive 4g-X and find it helpful about 10% to 20% of the time. The rest of the time it's no benefit at all and it's usually left turned off. So, be realistic about the addition and understand it's limitations before spending the money.
