2108 TB dinette

I am considering purchasing a new 2108 tb. Really love the floorplan but want a reclining couch in place of a dinnette. Has anyone done this. I'd really appreciate info on factory or aftermarket swap. Thanks.

Welcome - I doubt you'd get the factory to make such a swap for you. But I'm sure plenty of people of done similar jobs on many brands of TT. Check www.irv2.com for a bigger sample group of like owners.

Not sure on your model but dinettes are usually placed over the wheel wells and as such aren't suited for such a modification. However, I just looked at your floor plan and that dinette is on a slide high, over the wheel well. So, perhaps it would be doable.

Yeah, the slide sits above wheels. On some photos there appears to be a boxed area under the rear bench not sure what this is, may create problems with placing an aftermarket sofa. Thanks for your thoughts.

Without looking at the floorplan, from memory it would be rather similar to a 2106DS, but the slide would be deeper. Not sure about the width (or would that be length?).

I believe the slide has a width of 72" and there are many 72" aftermarket sofas available. If there are no obstuctions in the slide footprint it should easy, but unsure. Hoped to find someone who had done it. Thanks for thoughts.

If you don't need to sleep on it, how about a reclining love seat or couch? One that moves away from the wall as you recline.

I'd like to find a reclining sofa, something that grandkids can sleep on. I just have to make sure it will fit before I purchase camper.

I hadn't noticed you had not bought the trailer yet. Why not go with a 2106DS instead?

Neither couch in that reclines, and the one in the slide doesn't look like it would be very comfortable to sleep on. I'm not sure any reclining couch would be.

In my 2019 2108ds the platform is about 11.25" above the floor, and the ceiling is 58.5" above the platform. The slideout space is 31.5" deep, including the trim, and the width is 73". The platform sticks out an extra 14.25". I'm not sure if the newer models have changed, but that'll give you something to work with for ideas.

The dimensions really helps. I believe I can make it work, just hate to buy a new camper and start modifiy it this much. It would be nice if Winnebago would offer with a comfortable seating option in the tb floorplan.

I guess my question is “Where does your storage go if you take the benches out ?”

I have a 2106FBS which has a sofa....it is over part of the wheel well! I had thought about a recliner in the same area, but an aftermarket sofa would not fit due to the wheel well!

If you can wait, I believe there is a 2106TB coming in a month or two. This is a demo unit that they built and sold.

We ordered our Itasca Cambria from Winnebago factory with a reclining sofa that makes into a double bed. It came with a tabletop and pole that goes into floor. We decided to leave table out and have 2 small tables that actually slide under sofa at he bottom when traveling. There is just the 2 of us most of the time, but we have had 2 adults sleep on the sofa. It is electric and can recline in different positions. We love the sofa. It is very comfortable. If I had to do it again, I would order the same set up.

Thanks richard 44, hopefully the new 2106tb that backtrack 15 showed will solve my problem. I am curious why more folks don't use the "Lagoon" tables for eating an desks in sofas/theater seating.

In all of our RV, there is one thing that I hate and it is the dinette as they are so hard to set on , even to eat. If we had four kids to go with us we , might like them better but when only two travel the dinette is a big waste to me. But then the wife feels compelled by habit to set the table and act like company was on board, so the full time useless table has stayed as a monument to when we did have kids travel with us!
