Had the same issue, Added a piece of 4" foam at the head of the bed, held it in place with the mattress encasement cover.

The thicker the mattress the worse it gets as the front wall rolls back so quick.

For a 2018 micro 2106ds I have seen docs (cannot find now!) which indicate the murphy bed be down and side strap snaps on. Since we travel mountains and valleys in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, we have not had any problems with those early weak struts.
One word though, make sure whenever you lower the mattress, check that the cabinet surfaces are free of any material (small or large)! Where the mattress footprint sits.

My left side strut broke and broke again after replacing it. So I’m giving up on towing with bed down. Project now is to install some additional hinges, and slide bolts to hold the bed platform up. Next and harder task is to convince dw to allow me to get a proper Matress, especially since I already blew my annual rv budget on an Ecoflow delta 2 max.
