Wheel issues
I have a 2015 view, after our last trip I noticed discoloration on both front wheels. I thought I ran through something,as I tryed to clean them it wouldn’t come off. I visited the Mercedes dealer and he said it look like a bad chrome plating job and he also noted to it starting to happen on the back wheel.
Has anyone seen this issue before or knows what is causing this to happen.
I think it is a cosmetic problem, at least I hope so.

We have a new to us 2014 with the Alcoa wheels and besides the fact that they need a good cleaning and polishing no other issues found yet.
Do you have the chrome plated aluminum wheels?
Can you post a picture of the damage?

I noted on the Winnebago site that the View (at least that year) has "Available Stylized Chrome Wheels" . It shows a picture of them and they are really sharp lookin' IMHO. Probably chrome-plated steel?
Safe travels............. ed s

Those are the newer style than we have on our 2014 (build Oct. 2013).
Ours are the Alcoa Dura-Bright which weren't really cared for well by the two previous owners so we are polishing them with Zephyr's Pro 40 tomorrow.
Pictures after they have been cleaned up.
Sorry we can't be of more help with your wheel condition. Someone should be along soon that can offer more assistance.

Those are the Stylized Chrome Wheels. They can only be cleaned with soap and water since they are not really chrome plated. I have them too and have some problems but not as bad as yours.

That sure looks like the chrome plating is flaking off.

I heard from Winnebago today about my wheel issue. They told me to contact Alcoa. I felt a little put off, I understand I have a 2015 with 7400 miles, it is not under warranty. I asked just what warranty covers a wheel problem, extended warranties do not cover wheels and I never seen chrome come off a wheel.i don’t feel I should be the one contacting Alcoa, this is their part supplier for the vehicle. Doesn’t Winnebago expect a certain quality standard from their supplier? I asked for more information from the factory as to who I should contact next. Which me luck

My guess is that the wheel covers were not properly prepared before the chrome plating process which has prevented the chrome from adhering. That would be an obvious manufacturing defect which the manufacturer should take care of regardless of warranty situation. I'd press Alcoa pretty hard on this.

Wheel issues continue
The factory customer representative e mailed me the Winnebago part number and gave me the Alcoa phone number. He asked that I keep him informed, I guess they washed their hands with my problem.
I’ll let you all know what Alcoa has to say.

Could not get any help from Winnebago. Manufacturer said Winnebago new about the problem and inserted a separate letter in the owners manual. I bought mine used so I didn’t see a insert. Winnebago used this method of sprayed on coating on steel wheel to save money over real chrome wheels. Let me know if you get any help with thi or if there’s some more I can do

Thank you. I'll let you know if I learn anything. At least I have learned that I am not the only one with this problem.

While I can certainly see the reason for the complaint, I might also add a different thought. Since this is a known problem that they have already learned how to deal with complaints, I would say that you will find very little to be done that is worth doing. Looking at replacing them and paying for the new wheel covers versus the other options, they sound like they have already made the decision and you will not get much out of this other than a major headache.
I have found that there is certainly a time to fight but there is also a time to just admit the situation and cut my losses.
When it's less than a thousand and not likely to go anywhere, I just bite the bullet and pay up as part of my "sanity fund".
Lots of nice wheel covers out there that can settle the heartache in less than a month?

I agree. You saved me the time spent in an attempt. I will bite the bullet too and get new chrome.

I have the same problem with my 2016 Navion front wheel covers. The chrome is almost all gone. But the center cap looks fine. I just bought this RV in January 2020. What did you end up getting to replace them?

I got one from Winnebago under warranty and I tracked down the distributor and bought another. I would get Alcoa Aluminum wheels to replace yours.
