Removing 3M Diamond Shield from 2019 View

Has anyone removed the protective film on their View hood? My 19s hood film has bug marks that won’t come off.

Hi Frank,
It is possible to remove the Diamond Shield Film, but you'll find it a painstaking, difficult process to remove it without damaging the paint.

There are a dozen YouTube Videos on the process and a number of websites selling special "juice" to help remove the stuff. And many businesses as set up to do this for you, as well. Most important is the use of special PLASTIC scrapers and great care.

Here's a big thread at IRV2.com that describes how one guy did this;

And here's one of many YouTube Videos:

I have removed the DiamondShield from my Itasca SunCruiser. It is best to do it in the sun on a day that is over 90 degrees. Some people use a hair dryer to soften the material, but I was afraid of harming through paint. The Diamond Shield needs to be scraped off using a plastic razor. After that, the adhesive needs to be removed. I used a product named Rapid Remover. Both the plastic razor and Rapid Remover are available from Amazon and other online vendors.
