These mysteries are often way beyond what we can understand and generators can do some things we don't even know about!
So some thinking and looking might get closer to understanding what "might" have been going on? No warranty on pure guessing!
But I did do some work on Phantoms of this sort for a while. My big learning experience was that we may never know!
I see on the drawings that there may be an automatic function on some RV options for this amp.
Click these snips for better view of what I'm seeing?
Do you happen to know from any paper you got with the RV if you have one of these options? Or does the owners manual discuss the auto function of one?
What I might lean toward being the difference when on generator might be as simple as a generator which is putting out a signal that we don't know about. Kind of like a radio transmitter putting out a stray signal?
When we have automatic functions, it can get really messy at times if we get something nearby like a light that is putting out interference of some sort.
If you have the automatic option, possible the generator was telling it a different story?
And that generator signal may change with different weather or holding our mouth slightly different!
Sometimes I've thought "frequency" should be spelled "FREAKquency"!
