Vista 29V trash Can Suggestions?

Hello!

We are new owners of a 29V. We did the walkthrough, settled, but there was a part backordered so we are still anxiously awaiting to pick it up.

One question - what is everyone doing for a kitchen garbage can???

Appreciate any insight!

Thank you!

Shelley

We don’t have a Vista but we put a full size trash can with a foot active top next to the kitchen counter. We have an L-Shaped counter. There’s room for a smaller trash bin under the sink, but we find that space too valuable and a small bin would fill too quickly.

My wife has a sensitive nose and we find that combined with the small space of RV to be a bad combo, so rather than a dedicated space for a can, we find it works for us to have a simple Command Strip hook to hold a small bag that is big enough to hold a small amount of trash from one meal prep and then we change the bag often as we take a walk.
More space for the things we do need and less smell from trash from meal prep staying in the RV!
Since the trash can is more often less than full, do you need to dedicate that space to just waiting for filling?

We put a small round can in the triangular cupboard under the sink. It's got to be more like waste paper basket size than trash can size, but that also has the benefit of having us empty it more often to get rid of the trash smell.

We put a small round one under the sink. The walkway between the table and counter is too small for a trash can there. And there are drawers that extend there. It does take up precious space, but it seems to be the best solution. I might make a custom fitting one though, the round is not efficient.

We have something similar to this that we sit in the kitchen area while camping. It takes regular 13 gal kitchen trash bags and stores under a bench seat when not in use. We sit it in the shower while traveling if the bag isn't too full.

Back when such things mattered, SWMBO could never find the "right" purse, I could find the "right" briefcase.

Flash forward, finding the "right" trash solution occupies an awful lot of our time.

We belong to the "don't let that trash hang around too long club". Our latest iteration to achieve that is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Purchase at usual suspects, Amazon, Walmart OnLine, Cabela's and, if you must Camping World. Unless there is a bag hanging on it, it takes up no room. Don't know if it was designed with that in mind, but it has a recessed area where we glued a piece of carpet (for the one in the step well) and a piece of matching wood (for the ones in the bath and kitchen area).

Choices, choices

We do the same thing in our Sunstar 29VE, but we have a small rectangular trash can. We use the wal mart plastic bags for liners. The fill up before they have any chance to create a smell. Easy to dump every time we stop to get gas or similar and when camping it makes for a nice walk to the dumpsters with a very small trash bag.

That triangular cabinet with the door is the perfect hiding spot

Check out this earlier post on trash cans in a 29VE.

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/f263/29ve-kitchen-trash-can-353422.html

We had a small plastic round trash can that works for us. Like others said, it's better to have a smaller container that you empty more often.

Enjoy your new rig!

We have three trash cans

1. We have a cargo organizer that goes between the front seats. We added a small car wastebasket in one of the pockets for cans etc. while traveling.

2 and 3. We use a medium collapsible trashcan it moves around easily. Mostly sits under the panel next to the bathroom door. When we are traveling or need it out of the way it goes next to the bed and the wall to the bathroom. We also have a large one of these for recycling that is outside and stores underneath while traveling.
