Some thoughts...

Make sure all the 120v breakers are turned on, flipping them a time or two to clear them. The system display is based on measuring voltages in your breaker panel, and even if you have both legs energized, if the two breakers being checked are not both on, it will default to a 30amp display. Some have been hit by this when they turned off a breaker (i.e. water heater) when not used, not realizing it affects the display depending on how the system was installed and what breakers are being checked.

Another way to clear the display and do a reset is to totally power down the RV. Unplug, no gen, salesman switch "off" so everything goes dark. Then try powering back up.

Beyond that you will need to get into the 120v panel to check things, like the 12v fuse on the Intellitec circuit board.

You can also remove the bezel around the display, unscrew the display, GENTLY pull it away from the cutout and make sure all the cables going into the display are tight, though it does seem like that it is working properly.

Gabby-

Wiring diagrams for the 2006 Journey 36 are here, and for the 36SG are here.

The "meter" is part of the Intellitec Energy Management System (EMS). An EMS Installation and Service Manual is at this link. "Trouble Shooting" part "VIX," page 14 (link here) describes the symptom you are seeing. Start by troubleshooting using that section.

Here is another version of the EMS manual, labeled "Powerline 2004." I may be incorrect, but I seem to recall that "Powerline" was Winnebago's label for the Intellitec EMS.

Here are some of the reasons the EMS display could be showing 30A when connected to 50A service:

1) One of the circuit breakers that feeds the EMS is off, tripped or broken. In your coach's case, that would be the refrigerator and water heater breakers.
2) The EMS is broken.
3) One of the two 50A legs to the load center (breaker panel) is broken

If all the 120V loads work correctly when connected to 50A service, you can be pretty sure the problem is with the EMS (1 or 2, above). On the other hand, if you can't demonstrate or measure that each 50A leg into the load center is OK, the problem is upstream, often in the transfer switch and sometimes in the shore cord.

Page 5 of the 110 Volt Load Center/Auto Transfer Switch diagram (same for both 36 and 36SG) shows that the rightmost breaker must be ON for the EMS to work correctly (see note /8\).

Do you have a reel for the shore power cord? If so, the contacts between the reel and the base are not making full contact.
DO NOT attempt to work on the reel when attached to shore power, nor move the reel when on shore power.
The contacts can be refurbished.

Since you are parked at a location where the EMS sees 50 amp service that should indicate that all breakers are on & good and that the shore power cord is good. 50 amp is actually two 50 amp feeds, one on phase 1 and other on phase 2 of a 240 volt 2 phase electric service. Each hot feed is 120 volts to Neutral, but they are 180 degrees out of phase.

30 amp is just one 30 amp feed, a single phase. This is why a 30 amp 120 Volt RV outlet only has 3 slots (Hot, Neutral, Ground), and a 50 amp outlet has 4 slots (Hot Feed 1, Hot Feed 2, Neutral, Ground).

If you read AC voltage between the Hot Feed 1 and Hot Feed 2 outlet slots , if wired correctly it will read 240 VAC, because of the two feeds being 180 degrees out of phase with each other. When you use a 30 amp to 50 amp adapter, both sides are fed from 1 phase and if you read between the Hot 1 and Hot 2 outlet slots on the adapter you will read zero volts. This is how the EMS can tell you are using an adapter to plug into 30 amp, it samples AC voltage from the 2 hot feeds inside your RV, if it sees 0 V it knows it is not plugged into a properly wired 50 A shore power outlet.

Hopefully this background will assist you in troubleshooting.
