Flat Tow Question
I know that there are lots of threads here on this subject. I've searched and still have a basic guestion: Can I flat tow virtually any vehicle with a manual transmission? Maybe it's not that easy to answer? We've just started with a class A, so any info will help! TIA!

I'd say the answer is almost but not quite all vehicles with manual transmissions. You still must look at the guides and especially the Owner's Manuals for the exact year and model vehicle. Look for a section on "Recreational Towing" or Four Wheels Down towing in the manual.
Be aware that the Mini Cooper Owner's Manual, and every dealer also, will tell you that you can't flat tow a manual Mini Cooper but hundreds (thousands?) of folks do.
So, who do you trust on this???

We have a 2010 HHR with automatic transmission and it can be towed 4 wheels down. Have done so for 11+ years without issues.
Many auto transmission vehicles can be towed 4 down. Check your vehicle owners manual for your car to see if you are able to tow 4 down and/or what is required to tow the car.
Good luck, Bob

We flat towed a 2005 MINI Cooper behind 4 different motor coaches from 2007 until Dec 2020. Sold it with 160k miles for $4,200 to other RVers who wanted to tow it behind their coach. We now have a 2018 Ford Fiesta SE automatic and have been towing it for the past 15 months. BTW, we are still using the Brake Buddy that we bought in 2007 to use with the MINI and the same BlueOx Tow bar that we got used with the first coach from the previous owner.

Jeep
Buy a Jeep Wrangler. It is very simple if you follow instructions in the Jeep manual and view YouTube.

I've wanted to tow, but have been inclined to a car dolly, so I could do my daily driver. Any front wheel drive works, and likely any 4X4 because of neutral on the transfer case. (Which doesn't mean I wouldn't verify before doing so.) The interesting thing about the Jeep Wranglers, is they're so light weight. So a good choice on many fronts.

We tow a 2018 GMC Acadia FWD. with a BlueOx setup. Acadia has room for 6 and is very simple to set up to be towed. Pull up the boot around the shifter. Insert a tool into the hole and shift into neutral. I use the straight end of a large Allen wrench. When ready to drive, just place shift in park. Also had the Demco Stay & Play installed, flip a switch and the braking system is active. Used a Hopkins Brake Buddy for 16 yrs prior to setting up the Acadia.
