I have a 1997 Luxor Winnebago, I've had a couple issues where my clearance lights remain on even after pushing the headlight switch off, in turn I end up with my starter batteries dead.
Yep, bad light switch is most likely. Another cause is a poor/missing ground somewhere and it is backfeeding the clearance lights, again in the light switch wiring.

The problem with intermitant stuff is it is hard to fix when it's not broken. So if you can get it when it is not working right, twisting pulling on the shwitch to make it fail or work is one way to prove out it is a small part there.
But luck is hard to find at times, so coughing up the expense of a new switch can be the next best bet.
