Storage compartment jammed closed

My exterior storage compartment is locked and jammed from the inside. We have chairs and other heavy things stored inside. I used the key to lock the compartment. Heavy items shifted and slid on top of the inside locking latch. The key cannot turn the lock because an heavy item inside is resting on the interior latch. 2003 Winnie Minnie Class C. Any ideas how to unjam the lock? Thanks. —= Ray =—

Hi Rgbach,
If you can get a rubber mallet, or just use your fist, and beat on the underside of the compartment while simultaneously turning the key.

Three options that may/may not work?
Go throuigh the bottom with a 1/4 inch dowel to push up on the items?
Go throught the front with the same idea to push the items back away from the lock?
I might see the front as the better/more likely to move things but with the downside of a hole that shows more. to cover the hole, perhaps add a small bolt with a large head to cover the hole after adding a bit of silicone to seal.

Perhaps easier---if it works?
Try finding a way to tilt the RV seriously to make the items more prone to moving away from the latch, then jolt it?
