Soft spot or not?

Hi Guys,
Went up on the roof of my 2020 Micro Minie 2108 TB and found an area in front of the bathroom sky light that feels softer (spongier) than the rest of the roof. Is this because there is less structural support at this location or do I have water damage?
Regards, Scenecio

Since it’s adjacent to the skylight I’d assume it’s water infiltration. It may not be, but that is certainly where I would start.

On the other hand, the skylight is a large, unsupported hole and the roof would tend to flex a bit more than other areas.

Assuming you have an inner skylight, if you remove it you'll be able to tell if there's any water incursion. While you're at it, if the inner skylight screws aren't stainless steel, replace them with stainless steel along with any trim washers. They will rust over time.

Mine did have a leak and I was able to pull out some pieces of rotted luan plywood and replace them with some new pieces covered with some waterproof spray adhesive (3m or Gorilla?), but not the contact adhesive type that requires spraying both parts.

If your trailer is framed similar to mine, the skylight and vent are within the same 16" (center-to-center) space between two trusses. My truss spacings are mostly 16" or less. One is 17.75" (forward of the AC). I doubt there is a weak spot forward of the skylight from a roof framing point of view.

You can request the roof assembly drawing by calling Winnebago Towables.
