Soft spot in floor in front of galley sink.

There is a soft spot in my flooring in front of the galley sink. It kind of corresponds to the heating ducting. I assume there was probably some water damage, or just wear and tear after 30 years. My plan is to gut the carpeting and replace it with vinyl planking. Once the carpet is out I will have a better idea of what the problem is. My questions is this: Assuming it is the plywood sub-floor that is the problem, how difficult will it be to replace that section with new plywood? I have the tools and the basic knowhow. You can see the soft spot as two small divots in front of the sink.
