Front Cap Insulation

First and foremost - Merry Christmas to all and those in frigid weather stay safe and warm.

I have a recently purchased 2014 Itasca Suncruiser 37F. If my question has been answered before or needs to be placed in a different section please point the way.

I have noticed that the storage area above the driver and passenger seats (front cap area) gets very warm from the sun bearing down on that area. Even when cold outside. What is the easiest way to remove the boarding ( I think that's right) up in the storage area of the front cap and insulate it with maybe aluminum insulation that some put over windows to keep excess heat out during the summer months. I know there is a lot of wiring and connections behind the boarder running across the front inside the cabinets.

Thanks

Yes there are a lot of older discussions on this. I insulated mine and posted details. I’ll look for the post and see if I can find it. But the short answer is to remove the back walls of the upper cabinets and put fiberglass insulation there. Not very difficult or technical but a full day’s work.

In my 2015 Vista 27N the rear fiberboard walls of all the cabinets in front of the front cap were just held by color matched self tapping screws. The ceiling fiberboard pieces in the cabinets were held by both self tappng screws and construction adhesive to metal in a couple of places, so it was a little trickier to to remove them and re-secure them. I used fiberglass insulation rather than reflectix. I also used white vinyl, the kind they wrap cars with, to install a band across the outside top part of the winshield, to cover the outside of the top of the winshield where the back side of it was painted solid black, the black painted part of the winshield would get 30 degrees hotter than the unpainted glass when in sun. Finally, Winnebago gel coated the cap on mine a dark brown that really heated up when in sun and I covered the roof part of the cap that you can't see from the ground with white vinyl.
