Question BlueOx SwayPro Torque Settings

Anyone else having trouble torquing the bolts to 250ft/lbs? I have a torque wrench that goes that high, but I can't get past 160ft/lbs. Maybe I need an extension on the handle to get more leverage.

Watching the BlueOx installation video on youtube, the guy is torquing to 250ft/lbs one-handed!

I have a HomeDepot Husky torque wrench I was able to use at 250 with no extension. Used two hands though.

I use two 1/2" breaker bars on the hitch head bolts, one on the bolt head side and one on the nut/lock-washer side and tighten as best I can. In the 7 years we've been using our Sway-Pro, I've probably changed the hitch head height half-a-dozen times and I've never had any issues with the bolts coming loose after moving the hitch head.

Problem solved. I was using a 12" breaker bar so drove to the Home Depot, picked up a 3ft pipe to use as an extension, problem solved. But yeah, that's a lot of torque.

My breaker bars are 25" long with a swivel end.

I carry one of the breaker bars and a 1" six point deep impact socket to use when setting and releasing my WD bars instead of the wrench BlueOx provides. This combination works much better for me, providing more leverage when setting and releasing the WD bars. The swivel end on the breaker bar also lets me stand further away from the rotating latches and the other items attached to the trailer tongue. In my opinion, this makes for a safer and more comfortable situation when setting and releasing the WD bars.
