Day-Night window shade restoration
If your RV has a few years on it and it’s equipped with day-night window shades you probably have notice by now that they’re getting a bit dingy. Because of the material they’re made from they can’t really be cleaned and replacing them would take quite a lot of money. Believe it or not a very inexpensive and elegant way to bring new life to these shades is simply spray painting them. There are however some tricks to this in order to give them a factory finish. Be sure to disassemble them entirely remove all the strings and clean the metal services thoroughly. Most any kind of spray paint will work. I used all- Purpose Krylon. Rust-Oleum is probably a better choice but any quality brand will do. I didn’t see the need to paint the outside since the tinted windows hides them. While you have them apart, this is a good time to replace the string and nylon grommets. My wife likes the look of white string against the dark blue-gray shade.
Use caution when painting the day shade. Too much will clog the holes and it will look blotchy.
