Thanks to all who advised R&Ring the stock shower valve with the Moen 82382 replacement. Along with the new 5.7 Shurflo water pump our shower problems are over! Dealer did both installs and I highly recommend every Itasca owner do the same.

Just curious, how much did the whole job cost? I have been running my water pump with the city water connection when I use the shower then turn the switch off when I am done, the water pressure increases considerably.

The Moen unit costs around $83.00 at Lowe's. Then what I would do is call Winnebago and tell them you are unhappy with the original valve. The know there is a weakness in the OEM valve and when I talked to them, they agreed to have the dealer replace the unit under warranty. I had to pay for the part, but they paid for the labor.

I claimed the shower valve under my extended warranty and only had to pay a $50 deductible. The dealer charged me about $100 to install the water pump which they mounted on the floor on a piece of plywood, which is recommended by Shurflo. They left my OEM pump installed on the water tank so if my new one failed I could switch to the old one.

I have a Itasca Horizon . What type of problem were you having with the water pump? The valve in my MH is really tricky to set and I would be in favor of changing it out. I have not had a problem with the pump other than it is loud. Thanks Oh-one

I replaced the OEM water pump for two reasons: loud and not enough water pressure. The new Shurflo 5.7 is quiet and provides enough presure to take a shower while running the sink faucet at the same time. This pump is variable where the original was either full on or full off. Difference is like night and day.

I swapped out my OEM pump for a ShureFlo 5.7 for two reasons. It looks good in black and I just had to have it. .
No kidding this water pump is great, sometimes I can't hardly hear it run other times I just hear it a slight bit but I gotta tell you the water comes out of the faucet real quick.
Now I find myself having to be careful so I don't use too much water. The variable speed feature is real nice, the pressure just keeps coming on until your forced to gate it down a bit.
Big improvement! Does anyone need an OEM pump? Just send a pre-paid shipping container to me along with a $25.00 donation to iRV2.com via the donation link and it's yours.
I paid a bit over $200 for the new pump plus a half hour install.
Does everyone else have the pump solidly mounted to the sidewall or is the 5.7 mounted on a rubber vibration block like the previous OEM pump was?

Thanks for the reply. My water pump is loud but has sufficient pressure , its the stupid shower control that upsets me. Itasca should have done better considering the price. thanks Oh-one

Been chasing all over trying to get shower valve kit. Stopped at Lowes no parts. Called a Moen dealer in town. He does not stock parts for Moen. Called Moen direct. Discribed the parts I had in front of me. They are sending them out FREE. Hope they are the right ones. Will see when we get them.

I'm confused ...but then, what else is new . What was the issue that started this?
At the risk of hijacking the thread, was it the dang nabbed difficulty of adjusting the water temp (2001 35U)?
If so, does this fix that? We cannot get the dadblamed shower adjusted without freezing/boiling private parts and wasting a lot of water (and grey storage) in the adjustment process . Thanks in advance! Steve

Steve,
Yes you need a Moen valve to adjust the shower temps. It is a great addition. Winnie now puts them in their new units.
As for the water pump, its just nice to have. However I am on my 4th shurflo 5.7 pump. When they work they work well, but i've had 2 fail & 1 was no good from the getgo. I've got the latest one in my car ready to take out the original pump & put the latest replacement in. Sure glad I didn't give away the old one. Camping World offered to give me any other make of pump if I wished, but this one was made in 06' the others were made in 04' so maybe Shurflo is by the problem now. Sure glad they have a 3 yr warranty.

Going to Lowes and get the 82382. Do you get access to it by removing the panel that is on the inside of the shower? Looks like it would be fairly easy? Thanks for this tip!!! We hate that old fixture!

I had similar problems in my '01 Journey. When the original shower head went out, I went to Home Depot and bought a new shower head. All of a sudden I had more water pressure and it was much easier to adjust the hot/cold level. Maybe that will work for you.

Belgique let us know how it goes. If replacement parts do not work I may also change vlave. I was told at lowes you need to have access from back side of valve. Hope they are wrong. Wall is one piece back side of shower valve.

OK...confused again .
Are you guys changing out the entire shower control fixture or just putting in a new cartridge (they list a cartridge repair kit)?
The Moen web site has a pdf herehere
In our case, it is really hard to adjust the temp and we waste a lot of water trying to get it right. Thanks!!! Steve
