Radiator Flush for 1997 Winnie Adventuruer

Greetings All,

The previous owner of our RV never had the radiator flushed.
They bought the RV at 46,000 miles and now we bought it with 66,000 miles.

I have read some confusing articles on a DYI flush.
We would like to do this ourselves but now I'm wondering if that is a good idea for a novice RV owner.

Any suggestions you might share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi gypsy3,
Yes, after 28 years, it probably wouldn't hurt to flush it out with water, and put in fresh Universal Coolant.

Big engines in RVs, if the proper coolant is used, don't really need a flush. Especially diesel engines. But, if the coolant is discolored or the wrong color, wouldn't hurt to drain and fill with the proper mixture of coolant and water per the manufacturers recommendation. If you're seeing a lot of rust though, hmm, maybe talk to a few shop techs and ask for recommendations. I've found they're often happy to give advice. I always stop and ask at 3 shops with questions like that.
