I have to disagree with you on the petroleum theory. Plumbers silicone is petroleum based. I/we have been using vaseline & other petroleum products on seals for my entire career as an aircraft...

My 2013 Journey had the same issue. It was caused by the check valve in the pump. First thing I did was rebuild the check valve with a new kit. That worked for a few months until we were on the road...
