Outdoor enthusiast, finally got my base camp: 89 Chieftain 23RC

I’ve always wanted an old airstream or Winnebago and I finally found an affordable project. 1989 Chieftain 23RC; P30 w/ 454 at 62k for $1500!

I needed to bring and swap some wheels but otherwise it was sold as fit to drive home—but I didn’t make it. Overheated about halfway and I noticed the electric fans on the radiator can move—but do not, so that will be my first “please help” post soon. I hope it’s that and not the whole radiator! I am not a mechanic, but I’m not afraid to watch YouTube and get dirty—so I hope to be self-sufficient with this BBC!

I intend to fit my life into this little Base Camp over the course of the next year or so and sell my house. Between school and working, I’m done with this “life” as we’re told to live it! Returning to the wild.

There is nothing more expensive in the world than a $1,500 33-year old motorhome.

Best of luck to you!

PS. Since yours is a Workhorse chassis you'll need specific Workhorse Chassis info. Go to this Workhorse Forum on IRV2.com:
