Almost Newbie

Greetings to all. We are almost newbies again. Traded in our HR Vacationer last saturday for a 2014 Suncruiser 32h. We take delivery this Friday. We have been rv'ers for about 35 years and just retired. Kids and grand kids are too far away to camp with us so we wanted a smaller unit. Wiffee was never comfortable to get behind the wheel of the big bus. The IRV2 has always been invaluable for us. Hardly an issue we could not get help with. Looking forward to a "real Winnie" and maybe our last rv. See you on the road.

We've concluded that a 32' rig with slides ia about the ideal size for an older couple. I've been retired since 9/98, but I retired early. We started out with an elderly 26' Class C, but it wasn't a good floor plan and had a Ford 460 engine with a carburator and enough smog gear to choke an elephant.

We took a couple of years away from the RV life, but got back into it four years ago with the rig in our signature. We haven't used it as much as we'd like to, and it looks like we won't get to use it at all this year because of a big family event at home in August.

We're getting discouraged by the price of gas (about $4/gal locally), the possibility of another hike in Washimgton State gas tax and the increasing number of CG's whose overnight stay has gone above $40. Just a 10-day, 1200 mile trip now is over $1000, just for gas and CGs.

We might take a couple of local trips, three nights each, in September and then make the "keep or sell" decision.

As they say....no good deed goes unpunished! The dealercalled this morning to say that our 32h has two burned out motors on the main (huge) slide. They were on the phone with Winnie and determined they need to order a whole new frame/motor assemblr which will take aprox. 3 weeks to get to the dealer, then another week to install. I called the salesman to cancel the deal and they are scrambling to try and find another identical 32h to try and save the deal. Not sure how this will turn out but I'll post the progress. Never had a problem with the HR.

Update.....Parts ordered. A new motor and the long metal gizmo it attaches to. Sound like it works kina like a screw-type garage door opener. Anyway because of oversize, it needs to ship by truck. Parts expected early next week and we are scheduled to take delivery July 3rd. I will say that someone from the dealership has called everyday to update me. La Mesa RV in Mesa, AZ. Fingers and toes are all crossed.
