Thoughts solicited on diesel discount programs

Met some nice folks while tucked in at the Kartchner Caverns State Park a few days ago.

They mentioned a few discount programs they liked (and with which we are not familiar).

TechnoRV Fuelsaver Card (one time $4.99 start-up fee)

MudFlap

OpenRoads (requires SS# - Hmmmmmm)

We looked at them on line, and did a YouTube search. Thought we'd float the names out to the forum for opinions (snarky or not ) We have Love's. Coming to the end of Good Sam Membership. Not thinking of renewing GS.

Thoughts appreciated. We generally travel Spring and Fall. Wander somewhere between the north and south borders, east and west 'til the sand gets wet, so wide applicability a plus.

Look closely into the TechnoRV fuel card, I did and decided it wasn't for me because of the relatively-few locations, compared to the Open Roads program.
Both programs require access to your bank account, so creating another one just for that purpose is prudent IMO; then funding it as needed.

TechnoRV is a legit company been around at least 10-years. But they specialize in selling electronic gear for your RV.

The main discount program I hear folks talk about is the TSD Logistics Open Road:

https://www.tsdlogistics.com/services/fuel-program/

They are a major OTR Trucking Fuel payment service that branched out to diesel RVs a number of years ago.

Yes Open Roads requires a SSN but it is only used to track a person if they don't pay their bill. I've been using them for years and I have never had a problem. My bank let me set up a separate bank account. I populate it when I'm going on a trip and only $500 at a time. I can transfer money to it via the bank web site.

You SSN is probably already used by CC companies. If you have a credit card.

I use mudflap. There's not many stations in my area that are signed up with mud flap. But I use them throughout the Midwest and it was worth the effort.

Discount Fuel

FWIW: We were using Flying J/Pilot for several years for a small discount which worked on large quantities (90 Gals.+) at fill-up. However, I have noticed that recently, better diesel prices can be found elsewhere. So, I no longer recommend FlyingJ/Pilot's Discount Program.

Yep. Agree. Flying J discount thru Good Sam has not proved a savings to us either.

Thanks. Believe we will sign up for all three programs I mentioned originally and get a side by side comparison.
